How long does it take to get my online auto insurance quote?

Does it cost anything to get an online auto insurance quote?

• No! Quotes from Elephant are always free, whether online or using our toll-free call center. And you're not under any obligation to buy an auto insurance policy from us. We want to make the process as hassle free as possible while ensuring you all the savings you deserve.

Can I get a quote online if I have a 1981 or older car?

• Although we can't currently offer quotes for pre-1981 online we do insure 1981 and older vehicles for liability coverage over the phone. Please call us at 1-877-21-TRUNK (1-877-218-7865) and one of licensed insurance experts can help you with you with your policy.

What information will I need to provide to get my quote?

• At Elephant Insurance, we'll only ask you for the information we need to get the right quote for you. We collect basic information about you, other licensed drivers in your household, and the car(s) you'd like covered. We ask about your driving history, but won't need any records provided until you buy your policy. Our site is secure. Just click on "Get a Quote" to get started.

Can I get a quote if I live outside of Virginia or Maryland?

• Currently, Elephant Insurance is only quoting policies in Virginia and Maryland. We will expand to other states soon. Please check back later for opportunities to save money with Elephant.

What constitutes as a gap in auto insurance coverage?

• When it comes to car insurance, continuous coverage is not something to slack on. Even a one day lapse in insurance coverage constitutes a gap and can cause your rates to go up.

  Changing insurance carriers or insuring different cars doesn't constitute a gap in coverage, unless you let your auto insurance lapse at some point. Being listed on your parents' auto insurance policy also counts toward continuous coverage.

What if my car isn't listed when I get my online auto insurance quote?

• Is your car right off the lot? A classic from 1980 or earlier? A specialty car? These may all be reasons you don’t see your car listed in our system. This doesn't necessarily mean that you can't get a quote from Elephant. Just call our customer service center at 1-877-21-TRUNK (1-877-218-7865) and we can help with the quote process and answer your questions.

  We don't currently offer auto insurance coverage for some specialty cars, including the following: Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, and Rolls Royce, to name a few.

Why do you ask for email address?

• At Elephant Insurance your privacy is important to us and we make sure your personal information is protected. We ask for your email address to make the quote process more convenient for you. When you get an online auto insurance quote we’ll send you a copy of your quote for your records. Your email also serves as your login name for easy access when you return to review your saved quote.

What do I need to buy auto insurance from Elephant Insurance?

• Like your quote? You can purchase your policy either online or over the phone. To speed the process, please have the following on hand when you buy your policy:

  • VIN (Vehicle Identification Number – the unique 17-digit number found on every car) for each of the cars you're insuring
  • Drivers license numbers for each of the drivers you're insuring (when you buy your auto insurance policy, you're required to list all of the licensed drivers residing in your household)
  • The main policyholder's social security number
  • Your current auto insurance policy (for easy reference when choosing your coverage limits)
  • Loan/lease info if you're financing/leasing your car
  • A Visa, MasterCard, Discover or an ATM/debit card OR your checking/savings account information.
