The donations were part of the insurer’s Helping Herd program

Richmond, Va. (July 12, 2022) – Elephant Insurance recently completed a giving spree of $300,000 that benefited 52 nonprofits impacted by or providing relief related to the COVID pandemic.

The gifts were all a part of the insurer’s Helping Herd program which launched in August 2021. All of the nonprofits who benefited from the funds do work in the spaces of mental health; diversity, equity, and inclusion; physical health and community health, with each giving round focusing on one category. The full list of 52 recipients can be found here.

Elephant team members were involved in the Helping Herd selection process, either by nominating deserving organizations by survey and/or participating in the voting process to finalize the recipients.

“It has been a gift for our team to have the opportunity to give back to so many organizations throughout the last year doing good and important work,” said Alberto Schiavon, Elephant CEO. “We’re proud of this program and the community-wide impact it created, and we’re inspired to keep giving back and finding ways to reach the communities we serve.”

The fourth and final round of Elephant’s employee-driven COVID-relief donations focused on nonprofits that serve the community in the community health space, totaling $100,000 in donations across 14 different organizations. “We are truly honored and grateful to receive this wonderful gift from Elephant Insurance,” said Lynne B. This gift will be used to send more children to camp to learn to heal from their losses. Elephant Insurance and its employees are pivotal to the children’s healing process.”

“St. Joseph’s Villa is extremely grateful for the generosity of Elephant Insurance’s Helping Herd initiative,” said Elizabeth C. Mason, Director of Development at St. Joseph’s Villa. “With the help of partners like Elephant Insurance, the Villa is able to provide more than 3,000 children and families the opportunity to succeed through innovative and effective services each year. This gift will help Villa programs serve friends from 50+ localities throughout Central Virginia this year, including those who are homeless; who are experiencing social, emotional, or academic challenges; who have a mental illness, including youth in mental health crisis; and who have been diagnosed with autism or other developmental disabilities. Without community-minded partners like Elephant Insurance, this life-changing, and life-saving, work would not be possible.”

“Elephant’s generous gift will go a long way towards saving the lives of animals,” said Tamsen Kingry, CEO of Richmond SPCA. “Each year the Richmond SPCA provides rescue, recovery and adoption services to nearly 4,000 animals. Additionally, we support pets and the people who love them through programs like our low-cost, full-service Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital, our free behavior helpline and our pet pantry. We are so grateful to everyone at Elephant Insurance for investing in these lifesaving programs.”

“City Singers Youth Choir is ecstatic to be named a recipient of a Helping Herd contribution,” said Leslie Dripps, executive & artistic director of City Singers Youth Choir. “This gift will provide significant support to our recovery from the pandemic and will enable us to continue our work, which began in 1996, bringing together the youth of Richmond through the power of song from around the world and across the ages! Our free family concerts, performing youth choirs, and community music making events will all benefit.”

The program was made possible by Elephant’s parent company, Admiral Group, who shares in Elephant’s mission of making a positive impact on local communities during challenging times.
