Virginia-based insurance company is pleased to announce it is increasing staff wages

RICHMOND, VA, October 10, 2017 — This increase means all new hires will start at a minimum of $15 per hour. Elephant also announced automatic tenure increases above the projected rate of inflation for several positions.

Over 300 staff members at both the headquarters in Richmond and the office in Dallas will receive an increase in salary this month. This increase will affect many positions at Elephant, including entry-level and call center positions. Salary increase amounts for current staff will vary by tenure and position.

“We think increasing wages is an important action to reward our hard-working staff who take great care of our customers,” said Elephant CEO Henry Engelhardt. “We have big ambitions for Elephant, which we’re confident we can achieve through the dedication of our team.”

The increases in salary will cost Elephant between $1 and $1.5 million a year.

Elephant announced the increase to staff in late September, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

“That day, when the announcement was made, it boosted everyone’s morale in a big way. You could hear the whole building clapping the entire day,” said customer service agent, Stacey Battle. “Everyone was so excited!”

The salary increases come as an addition to the already first-in-class employee benefits offered by Elephant, including 22 paid days off, $5000 in free stock each year, generous health insurance benefits and a leading paid parental leave policy.

All salary changes will go into effect on October 8, 2017. Elephant is currently recruiting for several open positions. To find out more about what it’s like to work at the herd, check out elephant.com/careers.
